Katina is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Compass Behavioral Health and is being comprehensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She has experience working with patients across the lifespan who have relational and emotional dysregulation issues. Katina is an emerging DBT Clinician and is under the weekly supervision of Compass founder Cherie Mills, LMFT.

At Compass, Katina's responsibilities include providing individual and family therapy, skills coaching, phone coaching, and co-leading the Wednesday night Multi-Family Group. A team of coding and therapy adherent professionals review her therapy treatment plans and clinical videos and she receives expert consultation from Dr. Clive Robbins, DBT Training Director at Duke University. Cherie Mills, DBT-LBC Certified Team Leader has comprehensively trained Katina in DBT. Dr. Melanie Harned, Research Director at Dr. Linehan's lab at the University of Washington, has intensively trained Katina in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) in a DBT framework. She has been extensively trained by Dr. Terry Hargrave at Fuller Theological Seminary in Restoration Therapy, an integrative model that combines insight and skills-oriented interventions.

Prior to working at Compass, Katina practiced as a marriage and family therapist in a wide variety of settings with diverse populations. She has provided therapy to individuals with severe emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, and Borderline Personality traits at Pacific Clinics, a county-contracted community mental health agency. She has also worked with children and their families in public elementary schools through the Boys & Girls Club of Garden Grove. She has in-depth experience in cross-cultural and spiritual issues having worked at Asian-American Christian Counseling Service and Lake Avenue Church Counseling Center. She was also trained in an insight-oriented, attachment approach at the Center for Individual and Family Therapy. Katina is passionate about the intersection of spirituality and mental health. Prior to being a therapist, Katina taught English-as-a-second language to teens and adults in China, Newport Beach, and Berkeley.
