ADD & ADHD
Attention-Deficit Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder involves significant difficulty maintaining attention and restricting impulsive urges. This can involve such things as difficulty paying attention to teachers in a classroom, feeling like one misses important parts of a conversation, and difficulty accomplishing tasks such as homework and chores. Additionally, marked impulsivity concerns include finding oneself unable to resist engaging in actions that others may view as not social appropriate in context and finding difficulty feeling stimulated by certain activities. ADD/ADHD may cause impairment in educational and occupational settings, significant personal distress and shame regarding difficulty completing tasks in a timely manner, and interpersonal/familial conflict.
